Pyrus Chanticleer, an ornamental pear tree, is an attractive, low maintenance tree making it a favourite with architects, landscapers and gardeners alike. An ornamental pear which produces blush to white flowers with black stamens in late spring, then offers a glossy green foliage through the summer before phasing to a strong red in autumn, with the colour often persisting to Christmas. Small brown fruits sometimes produced in late summer. An upright, dense tree when young, broadening considerably with age.
Chanticleer trees are medium sized and slender, absolutely perfect for planting in a line 3-4 metres apart. Pyrus calleryana Chanticleer trees can reach a height of up to 10 metres. Pyrus Chanticleer is an exceptionally easy tree to grow with a long season of interest and leaf cover.
