Pin Oak trees (Quercus palustris) are one of the most commonly used landscaping oaks in its native range due to its ease of transplant, relatively fast growth, and pollution tolerance. The Pin Oak tree's distinctive shape is considered unique among hardwoods.
In the UK this tree does not get to reach the same heights as it does in its native USA, where a specimen Quercus palustris is reported at measuring 37m high and wide, however mature specimens in the UK will exceed 20 m.
The pin oak grows in acidic, loamy, moist, rich, sandy, well-drained, wet and clay soils
They are a fast growing spreading deciduous tree, and require lime free soil.
