Weeping silver pear trees are lovely, mound forming trees. This ornamental pear boasts beautiful grey-green, narrow willow-like foliage with silvery-white undersides, the effect is a silvery-blue-grey canopy. In April-May single white flowers are produced, which are popular with wildlife in summer, such as bees and other pollinating insects. Foliage of Weeping Silver Pear trees turns bronzed green in the autumn before falling and brown/green fruits are also produced but they’re only eaten by birds.
The pendulous weeping silver pear trees will do well given good, well-drained soil in full sun, some exposure will be tolerated. An ideal small garden tree it will grow to just 4 x 4 metres in 20 years. A lovely choice where an icy grey, white, silver or blue theme is desired.
