Viburnum (Viburnum Tinus) is a delightful mediterranean evergreen hedge with leaves similar to bay laurel and masses of pink buds tuning into white flowers produced from late winter to early spring turning to dark blue/ black berries in summer. Viburnum tinus is a vey cheery winter plant and will grow in full shade or sun, tolerating most weather conditions.
Viburnum hedging plants tolerate most soils, although thrives in damp situations and suitable in a coastal situation. Viburnum hedging is fast growing and has attractive glossy dark green leaves. Viburnum is not suitable as a formal hedge, but if long shoots are trimmed back it will reward you with a long display of flowers in an informal style.
