Portuguese laurel (Prunus lusitanica) is a delightful slower growing variety of laurel which makes a very nice dense hedge. Portuguese laurel has glossy dark green leaves,  cone shaped white spire flowers producing red berries which turn purple in Autumn.The berries are slightly poisonous to humans but have a very bitter taste.  Portuguese laurel hedging grows on all soils, is shade tolerant and easy to maintain. Portuguese laurel is a good hedge against prevailing conditions.

  • Any well drained fertile soil
  • Growth rate 20-45cm/year
